Grant Funding
Quinn Chapel AME Church in Frederick, Maryland, is deeply honored and blessed to have received two preservation grants to support the critical restoration of our Bell Tower and church exterior.

We are proud to be one of 31 churches nationwide selected to receive a grant from the Preserving Black Churches program, an initiative of the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

In addition, we have received a grant by the Maryland Historical Trust and the Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture, through the African American Heritage Preservation Grant Program. Project contents or opinions expressed do not necessarily reflect the views or policies of the Maryland Historical Trust or the Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture.

This funding will help us restore and protect our beloved church, which has served as a pillar of faith, community, and social justice for generations.

The African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund exists to advance ongoing preservation activities at historic sites, buildings, and landscapes that represent African American cultural heritage. With more than $150 million in funding, the Action Fund is the largest U.S. resource dedicated to the preservation of historic Black places.

The Preserving Black Churches program is designed to uplift and preserve historically Black Churches and the communities they serve. Since its launch in 2023, the program has helped congregations from Alaska to Florida address preservation challenges, safeguard their spiritual and cultural legacies, and provide vital social services.
